Planning to attend
Where is the conference?
Room RHLT1
Rutherford House
Pipitea Campus
Victoria University of Wellington
New Zealand
How many people will be there?
Our venue caters for up to 300 people, so we hope our final number will be close to that.
How much does a ticket cost, and when do you stop selling?
$110 early bird ticket closes 31st May 2023
$150 standard ticket closes 30th June 2023
What if I need financial assistance to attend?
You can become our volunteer or apply for Conference Attendance Award grant from InternetNZ.
How do I buy a ticket?
We’re selling tickets on good old Lil Regie (built in NZ since forever). You can purchase multiple tickets for different people at once!
Please head over to our ticket sale page to make your purchase. If you get a 404, try opening the link in incognito mode.
What type of payment do you accept?
We only accept debit or credit card payments on Stripe. We do not have the capacity to manage manual bank transfers right now.
I can’t attend anymore. Do I get a refund?
No, our tickets are not refundable, but you can transfer them to someone else. More information on our ticket sales policy.
Is food included?
Yes it is! We will provide morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
Our co-founders are serious foodies. Please rest assured that the food will be tasty.
If we have sponsors, we’ll seriously look at hiring a coffee cart too.
What dietary needs do you cater for?
Our vendor is a seasoned events caterer and can cater for various dietary requirements.
Please specify your preferences during registration, and we will try our best to meet your needs.
What access needs do you accommodate?
Glad you asked; this has been a large part of our focus.
If you’d like to help us make the event more inclusive and welcoming, please send prospective sponsors to our Sponsor’s information page!
By default, we’re providing these accommodations:
Physical access
First, we picked this venue due to its unparalleled access to public transport and reasonable wheelchair access.
The main entrance is on the ground floor of Rutherford House, with no stairs. The catering is done on the mezzanine on the level above, which is accessible by a nearby elevator.
NZ Sign Language
We’re also excited to work with iDeaf to hire NZSL interpreters for the whole event!
They will be positioned on stage with the speakers and filmed in our video recordings.
Live caption
As for live captioning, we’re dedicating a screen to it.
Right now, we’re planning to use an automated live captioning tool called Tactiq.
We know it’s not very accurate. Once we get more funding from sponsors, we are keen to hire a professional live captioning service instead.
Other
If you require other accommodations, please let us know when you’re purchasing a ticket or email registration@nztechrally.com if you have any questions.
Can I attend the conference online?
No, we do not have the capacity to manage a hybrid experience this year. But we are seriously researching it for our following events.
We understand not everyone is comfortable with large crowds or can attend in person. We will work hard to slowly make our events more inclusive as we gain more capacity and experience.
Actually, if you have experience hosting a virtual or hybrid event, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch by emailing volunteer@nztechrally.com.
Do you publish talk recordings afterwards?
Yes, we do!
One of our primary purposes is to grow our community. It’s vital that our content is made available to as many people as we can.
We will endeavour to post all of the recordings on our Youtube channel for free within a month after the event.
And yes, there will be video captions.
Conference day
I don’t want my photos taken by the official photographer. How do I let them know?
We will provide you with a sticker during registration to put on your t-shirt/top. This sticker will help our photographer identify that you do not wish to be photographed.
If you do find yourself in a photograph on our website, then don't hesitate to get in touch with us at info@nztechrally.com. We will take the photograph down and delete it from our collection.
I feel unsafe or have witnessed someone being harassed. What do I do?
We take our code of conduct seriously and do not tolerate any harassment.
Please inform one of our staff immediately.
